Solution

Accenture supported De Beers Group in building and scaling Tracr, a blockchain-based provenance platform for diamonds that combines digital identities, AI, IoT, and cloud infrastructure. Diamonds are registered at the producer level and assigned unique digital identities capturing attributes such as carat, clarity, color, cut, and origin. As stones move from rough to polished, those identities are updated across the blockchain to create a tamper-resistant chain of custody. AI and IoT support automated matching, quality checks, and higher-integrity data handling, while cloud computing provides the storage and processing capacity needed for global participant access. Accenture also helped restructure the technical team, establish governance, and improve the ingestion and processing architecture so the platform could scale. The result is an operational traceability system that gives industry participants a shared record of provenance from source to store.

Data flow

Diamonds are registered at the producer level, assigned digital identities, and then updated as they move through the supply chain. Those records are stored on Tracr's blockchain, where AI and IoT-supported matching and quality checks help validate data before participants access provenance details through the platform.

Solution architecture

  1. Ingest
    • IoT Feeds operational data into the provenance workflow as diamonds move from rough to polished.
  2. Compute
    • AI Supports automated matching and quality checks that help maintain integrity and efficiency across the platform.
  3. Storage
    • blockchain platform Stores the tamper-resistant chain-of-custody record for each diamond from source to store.
  4. Serving
    • Tracr Provides the shared provenance platform used to register diamonds and track their movement across the supply chain.
  5. Governance
    • digital identities Capture each diamond's key characteristics and provenance as it moves through processing stages.

How scores are calculated

Customer Reference Value measures usefulness as a customer reference. Evidence Confidence measures the quality and traceability of available evidence, not independent verification.

Customer reference value75/100
  • Problem clarity20/20
Measures whether the customer's operational problem is specific enough to compare.
  • Implementation depth25/25
Rewards named components, data flow, integrations, and architecture detail.
  • Outcome specificity20/20
Measures whether the reported benefit is concrete rather than a generic claim.
  • Quantified impact0/25
    0 metrics describe measurable impact.
  • Deployment scale10/10
Rewards evidence of a live or scaled deployment and meaningful integration scope.
Evidence confidence87%
  • Source authority20/25
The main evidence is an official vendor-published customer story.
  • Claim traceability19/25
9 of 12 key fields link to a named source.
  • Direct evidence20/20
    4 direct source quotes retained.
  • Date provenance10/10
The publication date comes from the source page or publisher.
  • Source transparency10/10
1 source reference document publisher, URL, authority, retrieval, and supported fields.
