Solution
Accenture helped Novartis design and implement a multi-cloud data analytics platform that consolidates enterprise data for AI- and analytics-driven decision making. The program established the data and analytics operating model, governance framework, roadmap, centralized data catalogue, and platform architecture, using Amazon Web Services as the primary cloud provider and Microsoft Azure as a secondary cloud environment. The platform ingests, unifies, and refines internal and external data from more than 80 sources across Development, Commercial, Manufacturing and Quality, and Corporate Business Services. Standardized data is then exposed to analytics tools and AI/ML workloads that simplify reporting, speed experimentation, and support cross-functional use cases such as clinical trial risk monitoring and patient-services analysis. By combining large-scale ingestion, governed cataloging, multi-cloud processing, and self-service analytics, Novartis created a reusable data foundation for faster innovation and broader application of AI across the business.
Data flow
Internal and external data from more than 80 sources is ingested into the multi-cloud platform, standardized through shared governance and cataloging, and then exposed to analytics and AI/ML tools. Teams across R&D, commercial, manufacturing, and business services use the resulting data products for reporting, experimentation, and operational decision making.
