Solution

RareJob Technologies is the technical department of RareJob Group, which provides the online English conversation service RareJob English Conversation, and it is responsible for product planning and development. The company adopted Amazon Web Services (AWS) to overcome development bottlenecks. In June 2020, it released the English speaking-ability measurement system PROGOS, which achieves automatic scoring using artificial intelligence (AI). Using Amazon SageMaker , the company improved development efficiency by more than 10 times. The RareJob Group migrated its RareJob English Conversation service from another cloud provider to AWS in 2016. Since then, most of its services have operated on AWS.

Data flow

PROGOS consists of two services: the application side, which asks examinees questions and accepts answers, and the scoring side, which stores the voice data from examinees and scores it with AI. "Also, we use Amazon SQS to achieve preprocessing launched at the same time that the user starts taking the test. For the routine work of retrieving necessary data from cloud services and uploading files to document management tools, the company developed a system that automatically acquires data using AWS Lambda, reducing the workload by approximately 100 hours per month.

Solution architecture

5 components · 2 layers
  1. Compute
    • Amazon SageMaker Builds, trains, or deploys the machine learning models behind the modernized application workflows.
    • AWS Lambda Executes serverless processing and workflow glue for the modernized application workflows.
    • AWS Glue Transforms and prepares data used by the modernized application workflows.
    • Amazon EC2 Provides scalable compute capacity for the modernized application workflows.
  2. Storage
    • Amazon DynamoDB Stores high-scale application state and metadata for the modernized application workflows.

Architecture clues

  • "Since most of the lecturers in RareJob English Conversation are in the Philippines, we also evaluated AWS's region in Singapore as well as its excellent support, technological development, and...
  • Both services use containers and serverless, managed services such as Amazon Elastic Container Service (Amazon ECS), AWS Fargate Amazon DynamoDB and AWS Lambda for the runtime environment.
  • The company is also working on cost reduction using Amazon SageMaker Serverless Inference , which charges only a time inferences run..

How scores are calculated

Customer Reference Value measures usefulness as a customer reference. Evidence Confidence measures the quality and traceability of available evidence, not independent verification.

Customer reference value86/100
  • Problem clarity20/20
Measures whether the customer's operational problem is specific enough to compare.
  • Implementation depth20/25
Rewards named components, data flow, integrations, and architecture detail.
  • Outcome specificity16/20
Measures whether the reported benefit is concrete rather than a generic claim.
  • Quantified impact25/25
    4 metrics describe measurable impact.
  • Deployment scale5/10
Rewards evidence of a live or scaled deployment and meaningful integration scope.
Evidence confidence87%
  • Source authority20/25
The main evidence is an official vendor-published customer story.
  • Claim traceability21/25
10 of 12 key fields link to a named source.
