I-MED Radiology

Document Processing

I-MED Radiology needed to keep radiology reporting fast and accurate even as the pool of medical typists shrank, but it could not compromise the quality and trust radiologists rely on when signing clinical reports.

Business outcome

The AI-enabled typist improved report turnaround times, multiplied typist productivity, and helped I-MED manage reporting volumes more flexibly without breaking radiologists' preferred formats or review practices.

Solution

I-MED Radiology partnered with Bain to design, build, and deploy an AI-enabled typist that fits directly into the existing reporting workflow. The generative AI system ingests radiologists' dictated findings, drafts the first version of the report, and returns that output inside the same process typists and radiologists already use. Rather than remove human oversight, the solution keeps a typist in the loop so quality, formatting, and clinical trust are preserved while the AI handles much of the transcription burden. Early pilots showed that the AI output was often strong enough to stand alone, but the hybrid operating model let I-MED improve turnaround times and productivity without forcing clinicians to change how they work. The story does not identify a named storage tier or model platform, but it clearly describes a production drafting layer embedded in live radiology operations.

Data flow

Radiologists dictate findings, the AI-enabled typist turns that speech into draft reports, and human typists and radiologists review the output within the existing reporting workflow before final sign-off.

    • AI-enabled typist Creates draft radiology reports from dictated findings while keeping human typists in the review loop.

Architecture clues

  • A typist remains in the loop to preserve quality and accuracy.
  • The solution was designed to slot into the existing workflow rather than replace it.
  • The system improves through continuous updates and optimizations.

Scoring methodology

How scores are calculated

Customer Reference Value measures usefulness as a customer reference. Evidence Confidence measures the quality and traceability of available evidence, not independent verification.

Customer reference value100/100
  • Problem clarity20/20
Measures whether the customer's operational problem is specific enough to compare.
  • Implementation depth25/25
Rewards named components, data flow, integrations, and architecture detail.
  • Outcome specificity20/20
Measures whether the reported benefit is concrete rather than a generic claim.
  • Quantified impact25/25
    2 metrics describe measurable impact.
  • Deployment scale10/10
Rewards evidence of a live or scaled deployment and meaningful integration scope.
Evidence confidence85%
  • Source authority20/25
The main evidence is an official vendor-published customer story.
  • Claim traceability25/25
12 of 12 key fields link to a named source.
  • Direct evidence20/20
    5 direct source quotes retained.
  • Date provenance0/10
The publication date has no documented provenance.
  • Source transparency10/10
1 source reference document publisher, URL, authority, retrieval, and supported fields.
  • Implementation specificity10/10
Rewards source-backed components, data flow, quantified impact, and a specific outcome.
