Solution

GEP adopted Confluent's fully managed streaming platform as the core data-delivery layer for its supply-chain and procurement services. The platform replaced legacy batch pipelines and a self-managed Apache Kafka environment with continuous event delivery that links operational, analytical, and AI systems through pre-built managed connectors. GEP uses the streaming backbone to move data from SQL databases, MongoDB, and Elasticsearch into downstream storage systems and into an AI stack integrated with Azure Open AI services and GPT models. That real-time context powers customer-facing generative AI experiences such as document summaries, insights, and procurement risk flags while also supporting platform reliability use cases. Running across multiple clusters and 500 microservices, the architecture lets GEP scale event delivery without data loss and gives engineering teams time back for new feature delivery.

Data flow

Events from SQL databases, MongoDB, and Elasticsearch stream through Confluent and its managed connectors into storage systems and GEP's AI stack, where Azure Open AI services and GPT models use the fresh context for customer-facing supply-chain insights and internal reliability use cases.

Architecture clues

  • GEP scaled from a single cluster to multiple clusters while keeping the streaming backbone in place.
  • Infrastructure monitoring was automated as part of the move to the managed platform.
  • Real-time streams from multiple databases feed both operational analytics and generative AI experiences.

How scores are calculated

Customer Reference Value measures usefulness as a customer reference. Evidence Confidence measures the quality and traceability of available evidence, not independent verification.

Customer reference value100/100
  • Problem clarity20/20
Measures whether the customer's operational problem is specific enough to compare.
  • Implementation depth25/25
Rewards named components, data flow, integrations, and architecture detail.
  • Outcome specificity20/20
Measures whether the reported benefit is concrete rather than a generic claim.
  • Quantified impact25/25
    2 metrics describe measurable impact.
  • Deployment scale10/10
Rewards evidence of a live or scaled deployment and meaningful integration scope.
Evidence confidence79%
  • Source authority20/25
The main evidence is an official vendor-published customer story.
  • Claim traceability21/25
10 of 12 key fields link to a named source.
  • Direct evidence20/20
    4 direct source quotes retained.
  • Date provenance0/10
The publication date has no documented provenance.
  • Source transparency8/10
1 source reference document publisher, URL, authority, retrieval, and supported fields.
  • Implementation specificity10/10
Rewards source-backed components, data flow, quantified impact, and a specific outcome.
