Solution

Getir rebuilt key commerce flows on Confluent Cloud to replace a tightly coupled distributed monolith with asynchronous event-driven microservices. Domain events now coordinate payments, inventory, notifications, and warehouse logistics without hard dependencies, which removes cascade failures during peak traffic. The platform also ingests real-time price and stock updates so discovery services can read localized, consistent data instead of making synchronous calls on every request. As the architecture matured, Getir adopted Confluent's Flink-based stream processing to filter events by warehouse, handle late events, deduplicate records, and route only relevant data to each operation. The same streaming backbone now feeds downstream AI and LLM models with fresher order, basket, and discovery events while freeing teams from cluster maintenance, connector glue, and other undifferentiated streaming operations.

Data flow

Order, pricing, inventory, and basket events stream into Confluent Cloud, trigger downstream payments, notifications, and warehouse processes asynchronously, and are filtered and deduplicated with Flink before being consumed by discovery services and downstream AI or LLM models.

Solution architecture

2 components · 2 layers
  1. Compute
    • Apache Flink Filters, deduplicates, and routes high-volume event streams so each operation only receives the data it needs.
  2. Uncategorized
    • Confluent Cloud Provides the centralized event backbone that coordinates order lifecycle, pricing, inventory, and logistics services.

Architecture clues

  • Discovery services read local, consistent inventory and pricing views instead of making remote calls on every request.
  • Flink handles topic-level filtering, late event handling, and deduplication across warehouse operations.
  • The Market Demand team decoupled order systems by replacing synchronous HTTP dependencies with domain events.

Evidence from the source

By eliminating batch ETL jobs against primary databases and reducing redundant processing, Getir cut database costs by roughly 70% within the first year.
Homepage, discovery, and checkout pages are now approximately 60% faster.
Tech crisis incidents decreased by approximately 60% as the asynchronous architecture eliminated cascade failures during peak traffic.
We grew very fast, and that speed meant we built a distributed monolith, tight coupling, unclear ownership, and data that was not fresh.

How scores are calculated

Customer Reference Value measures usefulness as a customer reference. Evidence Confidence measures the quality and traceability of available evidence, not independent verification.

Customer reference value100/100
  • Problem clarity20/20
Measures whether the customer's operational problem is specific enough to compare.
  • Implementation depth25/25
Rewards named components, data flow, integrations, and architecture detail.
  • Outcome specificity20/20
Measures whether the reported benefit is concrete rather than a generic claim.
  • Quantified impact25/25
    4 metrics describe measurable impact.
  • Deployment scale10/10
Rewards evidence of a live or scaled deployment and meaningful integration scope.
Evidence confidence79%
  • Source authority20/25
The main evidence is an official vendor-published customer story.
  • Claim traceability21/25
10 of 12 key fields link to a named source.
  • Direct evidence20/20
    4 direct source quotes retained.
  • Date provenance0/10
The publication date has no documented provenance.
  • Source transparency8/10
1 source reference document publisher, URL, authority, retrieval, and supported fields.
  • Implementation specificity10/10
Rewards source-backed components, data flow, quantified impact, and a specific outcome.
