Databricks Agriculture Global

FMC Corporation

Data Lake / Data Warehouse Modernization · Real-time Analytics · Security and Compliance

FMC is harnessing the power of science to address agriculture's most significant challenges, protecting crops from the devastating impact of insect pests. And while data is critical to their business, the challenge isn’t big data; it’s having the right data when and where it’s needed.

Solution

Delivering the right data at the right time is critical for FMC to help growers anticipate and respond to changing conditions — especially when it comes to protecting crops from pests. However, the team faced bottlenecks with legacy systems and architectures, which at times slowed the delivery of insights. FMC’s data scientists were developing promising pest prediction models, but getting those models into production was fragmented. Each team operated independently with its own pipelines and environments, making it difficult to scale results and turn AI insights into real-time data for growers. These challenges came to a head as FMC sought to expand its use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in the field.

Scoring methodology

How scores are calculated

Customer Reference Value measures usefulness as a customer reference. Evidence Confidence measures the quality and traceability of available evidence, not independent verification.

Customer reference value80/100
  • Problem clarity20/20
Measures whether the customer's operational problem is specific enough to compare.
  • Implementation depth10/25
Rewards named components, data flow, integrations, and architecture detail.
  • Outcome specificity20/20
Measures whether the reported benefit is concrete rather than a generic claim.
  • Quantified impact25/25
    2 metrics describe measurable impact.
  • Deployment scale5/10
Rewards evidence of a live or scaled deployment and meaningful integration scope.
Evidence confidence88%
  • Source authority20/25
The main evidence is an official vendor-published customer story.
  • Claim traceability23/25
11 of 12 key fields link to a named source.
  • Direct evidence20/20
    5 direct source quotes retained.
  • Date provenance10/10
The publication date comes from the source page or publisher.
  • Source transparency9/10
2 source references document publisher, URL, authority, retrieval, and supported fields.
  • Implementation specificity6/10
Rewards source-backed components, data flow, quantified impact, and a specific outcome.
