Traditional breast-cancer presurgical planning relied on grayscale MRI images and short radiology summaries, which made tumor geometry hard to interpret, contributed to variable surgical decisions and unnecessary mastectomies, and left recurrence-risk analysis slow enough to delay treatment planning.

Solution

SimBioSys built TumorSight Viz as a cloud-based medical-imaging workflow on NVIDIA infrastructure to turn routine breast MRIs into interactive 3D surgical models. MRI volumes move through a MONAI-driven preprocessing and segmentation pipeline, where AI models are pretrained on NVIDIA A100 Tensor Core GPUs and accelerated with NVIDIA CUDA-X libraries. The system then renders color-coded volumetric views of tumors, veins, and healthy tissue, and calculates measurements such as tumor volume and tumor-to-nipple distance for surgeons. SimBioSys uses CUDA-X drop-in libraries such as cuCIM, cuML, and cuBLAS to speed processing with minimal code changes, and packages model artifacts for clinical delivery. The result is a production workflow that plugs into standard imaging pipelines, produces clinically usable 3D views in minutes, and also supports in-development recurrence-risk analysis that returns results in hours instead of weeks.

Data flow

Routine breast MRI scans enter SimBioSys' imaging pipeline, MONAI and CUDA-X accelerate segmentation models on A100 GPUs, and TumorSight Viz converts the outputs into color-coded 3D models and measurements that surgeons review inside existing radiology and surgical workflows.
