Solution

The Q&A version of Rocket Money's story describes Rowan as a Claude-based financial assistant layered on top of the existing Rocket Money app. Users text questions or requests such as reviewing spend, negotiating bills, or cancelling subscriptions, and Rowan does the work instead of simply surfacing dashboards. Rocket Money chose Claude because its team had already tested every major model and found Claude the most reliable when context had to stay compact and actions still had to be correct. Rowan continues to follow the same specialized-agent pattern described in the companion case study: requests are routed to purpose-built capabilities rather than one monolithic agent. The roadmap extends that pattern into proactive tasks such as Gmail-based free-trial tracking and an in-app assistant, letting Rocket Money add more actions without changing the core trust model.

Data flow

Users send a text to Rowan, Rowan interprets the request against Rocket Money's existing personal-finance workflows, executes the task or analysis, and returns the result through SMS; upcoming flows also let Rowan inspect Gmail-based trial activity before notifying the user.
