Solution

Bynder runs its digital asset management platform on AWS and uses Amazon S3 as the system of record for customer media assets. As data grew rapidly, it added Amazon S3 Intelligent-Tiering so uploaded assets could remain in S3 while storage tiers adjusted automatically with changing access patterns, reducing cost without manual analysis or performance tradeoffs. Bynder tags S3 buckets and tracks product-level spend with AWS Cost Explorer, then reinvests savings in other innovation work. The platform also invokes Amazon Rekognition to scan newly uploaded images and apply keyword tags that make assets easier to find, and it uses AWS Transfer Family to ingest customer uploads securely into S3 before importing them into the DAM. The result is a scalable cloud content platform that combines cost optimization, faster onboarding, and better asset discovery.

Data flow

Customers upload assets through AWS Transfer Family into Amazon S3, where Amazon S3 Intelligent-Tiering optimizes storage placement; uploaded images can be analyzed by Amazon Rekognition for automated tags, and the assets are then exposed through Bynder's DAM for search, retrieval, and content operations.

    • AWS Transfer Family Securely transfers customer assets into Amazon S3 for onboarding into the DAM.
  2. Compute
    • Amazon Rekognition Automatically scans uploaded images and applies keyword tags to improve asset discovery.
  3. Storage
    • Amazon S3 Stores the digital assets that power Bynder's DAM platform.
    • Amazon S3 Intelligent-Tiering Automatically optimizes storage tier placement for assets as access patterns change.
  4. Governance
    • AWS Cost Explorer Gives Bynder cost visibility across tagged S3 buckets and product offerings.

Architecture clues

  • Automated tags from Amazon Rekognition appear in the asset detail screen.
  • Imports assets uploaded into S3 securely through AWS Transfer Family.
  • Uses tagged Amazon S3 buckets to track product-level storage costs.

Evidence from the source

Bynder adopted AWS Cost Explorer... The company allocates tags to each Amazon S3 bucket so that it can carefully track costs and adjust as needed.
Instead of having to manually review the access pattern of assets, S3 Intelligent-Tiering does it for us automatically.
Now, 18 PB of Bynder’s customer data—equating to more than 175 million assets—is stored using S3 Intelligent-Tiering, which has led to a storage cost savings of 65 percent.
Using AWS Transfer Family, clients can upload their assets securely to an Amazon S3 bucket within AWS, and we then import those assets into the Bynder DAM.
When a client uploads an image, Bynder can initiate a feature that sends that data to Amazon Rekognition automatically for scanning and application of relevant keyword tags.

How scores are calculated

Customer Reference Value measures usefulness as a customer reference. Evidence Confidence measures the quality and traceability of available evidence, not independent verification.

Customer reference value90/100
  • Problem clarity20/20
Measures whether the customer's operational problem is specific enough to compare.
  • Implementation depth25/25
Rewards named components, data flow, integrations, and architecture detail.
  • Outcome specificity20/20
Measures whether the reported benefit is concrete rather than a generic claim.
  • Quantified impact15/25
    1 metric describe measurable impact.
  • Deployment scale10/10
Rewards evidence of a live or scaled deployment and meaningful integration scope.
Evidence confidence90%
  • Source authority20/25
The main evidence is an official vendor-published customer story.
  • Claim traceability23/25
11 of 12 key fields link to a named source.
  • Direct evidence20/20
    5 direct source quotes retained.
  • Date provenance8/10
The publication date comes from publisher-controlled metadata.
  • Source transparency9/10
2 source references document publisher, URL, authority, retrieval, and supported fields.
