Solution

Takeda Business Solutions partnered with EY to combine finance analytics, automation and AI into a broader digitalization program. The team introduced CFOInUrpocket as a global finance reporting and analytics platform, built an automation roadmap with UiPath and EY, and launched AI Discovery and digital champion programs so employees could identify and own new automation ideas. When the pandemic exposed reliance on a manual scanning provider, Takeda implemented a state-of-the-art intelligent OCR capability that turned invoice-to-pay into a touchless process: medical reps could photograph invoices and send them electronically instead of mailing paper. The program connected analytics, OCR, bots and citizen-led automation so ideas could move from training into production use cases. By pairing a top-down platform strategy with bottom-up AI ideation, Takeda created a finance operating model that used AI, automation and data more directly in day-to-day work.

Data flow

Finance data is surfaced through CFOInUrpocket for reporting and analysis, while paper invoices are photographed and emailed into an intelligent OCR flow that routes invoice-to-pay processing without manual mail handling. Ideas from AI Discovery, the digital champions program and the automation roadmap are then turned into bots and operational use cases across the finance organization.

How scores are calculated

Customer Reference Value measures usefulness as a customer reference. Evidence Confidence measures the quality and traceability of available evidence, not independent verification.

Customer reference value100/100
  • Problem clarity20/20
Measures whether the customer's operational problem is specific enough to compare.
  • Implementation depth25/25
Rewards named components, data flow, integrations, and architecture detail.
  • Outcome specificity20/20
Measures whether the reported benefit is concrete rather than a generic claim.
  • Quantified impact25/25
    3 metrics describe measurable impact.
  • Deployment scale10/10
Rewards evidence of a live or scaled deployment and meaningful integration scope.
Evidence confidence85%
  • Source authority20/25
The main evidence is an official vendor-published customer story.
  • Claim traceability25/25
12 of 12 key fields link to a named source.
