Workerbee

Workerbee needed a way to evaluate internal and external talent against company-specific role requirements without repeatedly reinterpreting scattered workforce data or relying on opaque keyword matching that was slow, costly, and inconsistent.

Solution

Workerbee built a living Work Graph on Google Cloud to connect company strategy, role requirements, capabilities, and evidence across both employees and job applicants. Gemini extracts skills, achievements, and other role-relevant evidence from resumes, portfolios, project updates, meeting notes, and reviews, while explicitly excluding protected demographic attributes from the structured decision graph. That graph is then traversed with BigQuery Graph so managers can evaluate millions of relationships among people, roles, and experiences in seconds instead of rerunning raw-text reasoning for each search. AlloyDB for PostgreSQL stores operational application data, and the company is also testing Spanner Graph for live updates as employees complete projects, training, or certifications. The resulting architecture gives companies consistent, auditable rankings for hiring and workforce planning while turning static HR data into a reusable strategic asset.

Data flow

Employee records, resumes, portfolios, project updates, meeting notes, and reviews are structured by Gemini into a Work Graph, searched with BigQuery Graph against company-specific role definitions, and combined with operational data from AlloyDB to deliver auditable hiring and workforce recommendations.

Solution architecture

5 components · 3 layers
  1. Compute
    • Gemini Extracts role-relevant capabilities and evidence from internal and external workforce data.
  2. Storage
    • BigQuery Supports the analytical foundation for large-scale talent and capability evaluation.
    • AlloyDB for PostgreSQL Stores operational data such as profiles, user records, and application settings.
  3. Serving
    • BigQuery Graph Traverses the Work Graph to evaluate connected talent data in seconds.
    • Spanner Graph Is being tested for operational graph workloads and live Work Graph updates.

Architecture clues

  • Protected demographic attributes are excluded from the structured evaluation data.
  • Spanner Graph is being tested for operational live-update use cases.
  • The Work Graph is updated as employees complete projects, training modules, or certifications.
  • The design avoids repeated raw-text reasoning by structuring information once and reusing it.

Scoring methodology

How scores are calculated

Customer Reference Value measures usefulness as a customer reference. Evidence Confidence measures the quality and traceability of available evidence, not independent verification.

Customer reference value100/100
  • Problem clarity20/20
Measures whether the customer's operational problem is specific enough to compare.
  • Implementation depth25/25
Rewards named components, data flow, integrations, and architecture detail.
  • Outcome specificity20/20
Measures whether the reported benefit is concrete rather than a generic claim.
  • Quantified impact25/25
    3 metrics describe measurable impact.
  • Deployment scale10/10
Rewards evidence of a live or scaled deployment and meaningful integration scope.
Evidence confidence82%
  • Source authority20/25
The main evidence is an official vendor-published customer story.
  • Claim traceability23/25
11 of 12 key fields link to a named source.
  • Direct evidence20/20
    5 direct source quotes retained.
  • Date provenance0/10
The publication date has no documented provenance.
  • Source transparency9/10
2 source references document publisher, URL, authority, retrieval, and supported fields.
  • Implementation specificity10/10
Rewards source-backed components, data flow, quantified impact, and a specific outcome.
