Solution

Dynamiq built an AI-powered legal agent on the IBM watsonx platform using IBM watsonx.data, IBM Granite foundation models, and IBM watsonx Orchestrate. Watsonx.data acts as the unified lakehouse where contracts, compliance reports, and regulatory documents are ingested, organized, vectorized, and retrieved, including support for Milvus vector stores. On top of that data layer, Dynamiq uses a multi-model strategy: Granite small language models handle routine compliance activities such as template matching and formatting, while the agent performs semantic contract search, comparative analysis, clause-level compliance scoring, and legal Q&A. IBM watsonx Orchestrate and prebuilt APIs connect those insights to enterprise systems such as SAP, Salesforce, and ServiceNow, and the workflow can route documents for approval or escalate cases to humans. The result is a legal-operations platform that turns document repositories into an actionable knowledge base rather than a manual review queue.

Data flow

Contracts, compliance reports, and regulatory documents are ingested into watsonx.data and Milvus, Granite-based models analyze them for search, clause scoring, and comparison, and watsonx Orchestrate routes the resulting insights into SAP, Salesforce, ServiceNow, and human approval workflows.

Solution architecture

4 components · 3 layers
  1. Compute
    • IBM Granite Runs the legal-analysis and compliance tasks, with smaller models handling routine review work.
  2. Storage
    • IBM watsonx.data Stores, organizes, and retrieves contracts, regulatory documents, and compliance content for the legal agent.
    • Milvus Provides vector-store support for embedding proprietary legal data inside the agent workflow.
  3. Orchestration
    • IBM watsonx Orchestrate Connects legal insights into business systems and automates approval and escalation workflows.

Architecture clues

  • Semantic contract search, comparative document analysis, and clause-level compliance scoring are core capabilities.
  • The agent can route documents for approval and escalate complex cases for human review.
  • The solution uses a multi-model strategy to balance cost and performance.

Scoring methodology

How scores are calculated

Customer Reference Value measures usefulness as a customer reference. Evidence Confidence measures the quality and traceability of available evidence, not independent verification.

Customer reference value100/100
  • Problem clarity20/20
Measures whether the customer's operational problem is specific enough to compare.
  • Implementation depth25/25
Rewards named components, data flow, integrations, and architecture detail.
  • Outcome specificity20/20
Measures whether the reported benefit is concrete rather than a generic claim.
  • Quantified impact25/25
    3 metrics describe measurable impact.
  • Deployment scale10/10
Rewards evidence of a live or scaled deployment and meaningful integration scope.
Evidence confidence92%
  • Source authority20/25
The main evidence is an official vendor-published customer story.
  • Claim traceability23/25
11 of 12 key fields link to a named source.
  • Direct evidence20/20
    5 direct source quotes retained.
  • Date provenance10/10
The publication date comes from the source page or publisher.
  • Source transparency9/10
2 source references document publisher, URL, authority, retrieval, and supported fields.
  • Implementation specificity10/10
Rewards source-backed components, data flow, quantified impact, and a specific outcome.
