Solution

The IBM Chief Information Office organization built an Account 360 Slack application on its internal Hybrid Cloud platform to reduce the time client-facing teams spent hunting across disconnected sales, support and planning tools. The solution aligns account identifiers across source systems, combines quote documents, support tickets, account plans, company profiles and other client records, preprocesses them and stores the result in IBM Cloud Object Storage. The application is written in Python and hosted on Red Hat OpenShift on IBM Cloud, while IBM watsonx.ai generates summaries and answers natural-language questions over the aggregated account material. Slack is the serving layer, exposing one-click access to relevant resources and teammates from desktop or mobile devices. This creates a cross-silo retrieval and collaboration layer where normalized account data is stored once and surfaced inside the tool where sellers, customer success managers and support staff already work.

Data flow

Sales, support and planning data is aligned by account identifier, combined and preprocessed into IBM Cloud Object Storage, then served by a Python application on OpenShift; Slack exposes the output while watsonx.ai summarizes account documents and answers account questions.

Solution architecture

5 components · 4 layers
  1. Compute
    • IBM watsonx.ai Generates summaries and answers natural-language questions over account documents and records.
  2. Storage
    • IBM Cloud Object Storage Stores the preprocessed account data assembled from multiple internal tools and repositories.
  3. Serving
    • Slack Provides the user-facing app where client-facing teams access account summaries, resources and teammates.
  4. Orchestration
    • Red Hat OpenShift on IBM Cloud Hosts the Python application that serves the Account 360 experience.
    • IBM Hybrid Cloud platform Provides the internal platform foundation for the application environment.

Architecture clues

  • Preprocessed account data is stored before users make requests so responses can be served quickly.
  • The application was written in Python and hosted within IBM's internal Hybrid Cloud platform.
  • The design depends on finding and linking common account identifiers across sales and support systems.

How scores are calculated

Customer Reference Value measures usefulness as a customer reference. Evidence Confidence measures the quality and traceability of available evidence, not independent verification.

Customer reference value100/100
  • Problem clarity20/20
Measures whether the customer's operational problem is specific enough to compare.
  • Implementation depth25/25
Rewards named components, data flow, integrations, and architecture detail.
  • Outcome specificity20/20
Measures whether the reported benefit is concrete rather than a generic claim.
  • Quantified impact25/25
    2 metrics describe measurable impact.
  • Deployment scale10/10
Rewards evidence of a live or scaled deployment and meaningful integration scope.
Evidence confidence89%
  • Source authority20/25
The main evidence is an official vendor-published customer story.
  • Claim traceability21/25
10 of 12 key fields link to a named source.
  • Direct evidence20/20
    5 direct source quotes retained.
  • Date provenance10/10
The publication date comes from the source page or publisher.
  • Source transparency8/10
1 source reference document publisher, URL, authority, retrieval, and supported fields.
  • Implementation specificity10/10
Rewards source-backed components, data flow, quantified impact, and a specific outcome.
