Lenovo PCCW Solutions (LPS)

IT Operations Automation · Security and Compliance

LPS needed a more unified way to monitor, secure, and scale hybrid environments for enterprise clients because its existing monitoring tools only offered siloed snapshots and could not support proactive incident response, capacity planning, and 24x7 service commitments.

Solution

LPS partnered with IBM to redesign its delivery foundation around hybrid infrastructure, AI-driven observability, centralized data governance, and automation. IBM LinuxONE provides the high-performance base for workloads that require strong security and resilience, while IBM Instana delivers full-stack, real-time monitoring across physical, virtual, containerized, and serverless environments. The teams also centralized structured and unstructured information in a secured data lake so operations could combine performance and governance signals, and they added IBM Turbonomic plus AI/ML-driven remediation to optimize resource allocation automatically. Containerization and microservices were adopted to improve scaling flexibility for client environments that span finance, telecom, retail, and public sector use cases. Together, these layers turn monitoring from a reactive point tool into a cross-environment operational system that helps LPS detect issues earlier, reduce downtime, and support new digital experiences such as immersive retail and smart-city services.

Data flow

Telemetry from physical, virtual, containerized, and serverless environments flows into Instana for real-time tracing and alerts, operational and security data is centralized in a secured data lake, and Turbonomic plus automated remediation feeds resource and incident actions back into the hybrid cloud estate.

Solution architecture

3 components · 3 layers
  1. Compute
    • IBM LinuxONE Provides the secure, high-performance infrastructure base for hybrid enterprise workloads.
  2. Orchestration
    • IBM Turbonomic Optimizes resource allocation dynamically so LPS can avoid overprovisioning while keeping performance targets.
  3. Governance
    • IBM Instana Supplies AI-driven full-stack observability, tracing, and root-cause analysis across LPS-managed environments.

Architecture clues

  • Containerization and microservices were adopted to support agile scaling and resilient operations.
  • Instana monitors physical, virtual, containerized, and serverless environments in one stack.
  • The design balances private clouds for sensitive workloads with public-cloud elasticity.

How scores are calculated

Customer Reference Value measures usefulness as a customer reference. Evidence Confidence measures the quality and traceability of available evidence, not independent verification.

Customer reference value70/100
  • Problem clarity20/20
Measures whether the customer's operational problem is specific enough to compare.
  • Implementation depth25/25
Rewards named components, data flow, integrations, and architecture detail.
  • Outcome specificity20/20
Measures whether the reported benefit is concrete rather than a generic claim.
  • Quantified impact0/25
    0 metrics describe measurable impact.
  • Deployment scale5/10
Rewards evidence of a live or scaled deployment and meaningful integration scope.
Evidence confidence87%
  • Source authority20/25
The main evidence is an official vendor-published customer story.
  • Claim traceability21/25
10 of 12 key fields link to a named source.
  • Direct evidence20/20
    5 direct source quotes retained.
  • Date provenance10/10
The publication date comes from the source page or publisher.
  • Source transparency8/10
1 source reference document publisher, URL, authority, retrieval, and supported fields.
  • Implementation specificity8/10
Rewards source-backed components, data flow, quantified impact, and a specific outcome.
