Tutore

Customer Service Automation · Enterprise Knowledge Search

Tutore needed a way to answer large volumes of repetitive student and parent questions around the clock because fast growth was overwhelming support teams and 24x7 manual coverage would have been too expensive.

90,000+ messages across 40,000 conversations in first nine months
95% of queries matched with an answer from the knowledge database

Solution

Tutore worked with IBM Business Partner TUATARA to build Tutorek, a custom educational virtual assistant based on Actionbot and powered by IBM watsonx Assistant. The assistant appears as a branded digital guide on Tutore's website, parses natural-language questions, and uses retrieval-augmented generation against website and learning-resource content to produce contextual answers about registration, course options, and pricing. The design always preserves an escalation path to a human support specialist, so the bot handles repetitive work while staff focus on more complex issues. TUATARA later extended the same assistant with quizzes, vocabulary tests, exercises, and learning materials, turning it from a simple FAQ tool into a learning companion. This architecture gave Tutore a single conversational front end for both support and engagement while keeping the knowledge base aligned to the company's education content.

Data flow

Student and parent questions arrive through the website, Actionbot and watsonx Assistant retrieve context from Tutore's site and learning resources, the assistant responds or escalates to human staff, and extended learning tools deliver quizzes and exercises.

How scores are calculated

Customer Reference Value measures usefulness as a customer reference. Evidence Confidence measures the quality and traceability of available evidence, not independent verification.

Customer reference value85/100
  • Problem clarity20/20
Measures whether the customer's operational problem is specific enough to compare.
  • Implementation depth25/25
Rewards named components, data flow, integrations, and architecture detail.
  • Outcome specificity20/20
Measures whether the reported benefit is concrete rather than a generic claim.
  • Quantified impact15/25
    1 metric describe measurable impact.
  • Deployment scale5/10
Rewards evidence of a live or scaled deployment and meaningful integration scope.
Evidence confidence89%
  • Source authority20/25
The main evidence is an official vendor-published customer story.
  • Claim traceability21/25
10 of 12 key fields link to a named source.
  • Direct evidence20/20
    4 direct source quotes retained.
  • Date provenance10/10
The publication date comes from the source page or publisher.
  • Source transparency8/10
1 source reference document publisher, URL, authority, retrieval, and supported fields.
  • Implementation specificity10/10
Rewards source-backed components, data flow, quantified impact, and a specific outcome.
