Solution
GEA is layering AI onto its base of IIoT-connected industrial equipment and internal knowledge workflows. Machine sensors feed operating data from spray dryers, wastewater decanters, brewhouse systems, and milking environments into GEA Cloud, where software services analyze conditions and either auto-adjust control parameters or recommend operator actions. GEA OptiPartner functions as an autopilot-style optimization and maintenance service for process equipment; GEA Intellicant combines a sensor package with the virtual machine operator (VMO) to react automatically to wastewater variability; GEA InsightPartner Brewery adds predictive AI and dashboards for mid-brew optimization; and CattleEye applies computer-vision-style movement analysis to score cow mobility. Internally, GEA BetterBot AI grounds OpenAI's ChatGPT through Microsoft's Azure OpenAI Service on GEA data and serves employees securely via the GEA Cloud, while GEA Portal exposes machine data and collaboration workflows to customers.
Data flow
Sensors on connected GEA machines and Intellicant decanters capture process variables such as solids concentration, centrate turbidity, dry substance, energy use, and heat-recovery data. These streams are sent to GEA Cloud, where VMO and other AI or analytics functions optimize parameters or generate suggestions for OptiPartner and InsightPartner Brewery. Results are surfaced through machine controls, dashboards, GEA Portal, and application interfaces used by operators, farmers, and employees.
