Architecture clues
Based on those results, KPMG decided to test Copilot, Azure OpenAI Service , and Azure AI Search as the basis for many of its generative AI applications.
Guided by natural language prompts that subject matter experts enter, the compliance checker performs advanced text analysis of dozens of client source documents to identify full or partial compliance, or noncompliance, in a fraction of the time required for manual assessments.
It just makes experts a lot more efficient and gives them the capabilities to perform those tasks in a much quicker and higher-quality way for our clients.” KPMG Australia worked closely with the Microsoft Teams Ecosystem Engineering team to develop the proof of concept for Comply AI in just a few weeks.
KPMG created a pilot of Comply AI to automate the initial ESG compliance assessment process under the guidance of KPMG SMEs.
One of the first AI Workbench tools that KPMG is developing is the Environment, Social, and Governance (ESG) compliance reporting assessment tool, called Comply AI.
Seeing the potential of generative AI to further enhance its services, the firm tested offerings from multiple vendors before deciding to build a proof of concept of its ESG Comply AI platform using Microsoft Azure OpenAI Service, Azure AI Search, and Copilot for Microsoft 365.
This analysis is automatically compared against a pre-built database representing the complete set of ESG standards to quickly produce an assessment that identifies whether documents are fully compliant, partially compliant, or out of compliance.
“Pilot testing has enabled us to identify which features of KymChat and Copilot add the greatest value and shape a secure and multifaceted change program as we continue its rollout,” says Jason Fogaty, Partner, Connected Technology Group at KPMG Australia.

How scores are calculated
Customer Reference Value measures usefulness as a customer reference. Evidence Confidence measures the quality and traceability of available evidence, not independent verification.
Customer reference value65/100
Problem clarity20/20
Measures whether the customer's operational problem is specific enough to compare.
Implementation depth15/25
Rewards named components, data flow, integrations, and architecture detail.
Outcome specificity20/20
Measures whether the reported benefit is concrete rather than a generic claim.
Quantified impact0/25
0 metrics describe measurable impact.
Deployment scale10/10
Rewards evidence of a live or scaled deployment and meaningful integration scope.
Evidence confidence85%
Source authority20/25
The main evidence is an official vendor-published customer story.
Claim traceability21/25
10 of 12 key fields link to a named source.
Direct evidence20/20
4 direct source quotes retained.
Date provenance10/10
The publication date comes from the source page or publisher.
