MongoDB Financial Services France

Bpifrance

Real-time Analytics

Bpifrance needed to modernize legacy batch core-banking and information systems so chatbot answers, risk calculations, audits, and cross-business research could happen in real time.

Bpifrance's MongoDB platform had 4 applications before 2021.
Two years ago, the public entity opted for MongoDB Atlas, which contains 35 applications spread over several clusters for 250 users.

Reported impact

Business outcome

Bpifrance improved chatbot relevance, moved core banking and risk calculations into real time, and made audits and 360-degree research easier for teams.

Solution

Bpifrance expanded its use of MongoDB Atlas from four applications into a broader cloud data platform that now supports 35 applications across several clusters for 250 users. The bank uses Atlas to add context back into chatbot interactions by digitally slicing business-line information into MongoDB and comparing it with user questions, while Confluent streams core-banking changes so outstanding balances and risk can be calculated in real time instead of D+1 or batch windows. For analytics and reporting, Atlas Data Federation lets teams combine, enrich, and transform data across multiple sources to build their own risk-analysis datasets. This architecture improves answer quality, auditability, and self-service access to trusted financial data.

Data flow

Business-line data is sliced into MongoDB Atlas, where chatbot context and core-banking events are matched in real time; Confluent streams changes, and Atlas Data Federation combines cluster data for risk reports and 360-degree research.

Solution architecture

3 components · 3 layers
  1. Storage
    • MongoDB Atlas Stores contextual business-line and core-banking data for chatbot, audit, and research workloads.
  2. Orchestration
    • Confluent Streams core-banking changes so real-time deltas reach MongoDB-driven services.
  3. Uncategorized
    • MongoDB Atlas Data Federation Combines and transforms data across clusters and sources for reporting and risk analysis.

Architecture clues

  • Atlas Data Federation is used to combine and transform data across multiple sources.
  • Legacy batch and D+1 processing was replaced with real-time streaming for core banking.
  • MongoDB Atlas stores the contextual slices used to ground chatbot responses.

Evidence from the source

By combining several technologies within the project known as MPA, information from Bpifrance will be digitally "sliced" into a MongoDB Atlas database, then compared with information from a chatbot user.
Thanks to the combination of Confluent and MongoDB, we have moved to real-time Core Banking.
Through Data Federation, Atlas users will be able to combine, enrich, and transform data, run federated queries across multiple data sources, and generate data to their preferred destination.

How scores are calculated

Customer Reference Value measures usefulness as a customer reference. Evidence Confidence measures the quality and traceability of available evidence, not independent verification.

Customer reference value75/100
  • Problem clarity20/20
Measures whether the customer's operational problem is specific enough to compare.
  • Implementation depth25/25
Rewards named components, data flow, integrations, and architecture detail.
  • Outcome specificity20/20
Measures whether the reported benefit is concrete rather than a generic claim.
  • Quantified impact0/25
    0 metrics describe measurable impact.
  • Deployment scale10/10
Rewards evidence of a live or scaled deployment and meaningful integration scope.
Evidence confidence72%
  • Source authority20/25
The main evidence is an official vendor-published customer story.
  • Claim traceability21/25
10 of 12 key fields link to a named source.
  • Direct evidence15/20
    3 direct source quotes retained.
  • Date provenance0/10
The publication date has no documented provenance.
  • Source transparency8/10
1 source reference document publisher, URL, authority, retrieval, and supported fields.
  • Implementation specificity8/10
Rewards source-backed components, data flow, quantified impact, and a specific outcome.
