Cognigy

Customer Service Automation

Cognigy needed a scalable conversational AI data platform that could integrate with enterprise systems and channels while letting the product evolve quickly without painful schema migrations or latency spikes.

Cognigy designed over 30 specialized microservices orchestrated through Kubernetes.
Its MongoDB production replica set handles around 1000 database operations per second during peak-load scenarios.
The platform manages over 1 TB of data on larger systems.

Solution

Cognigy built its conversational AI platform on MongoDB so it could combine flexible document storage, microservices scalability, and file management for enterprise customer-service agents. The platform integrates with CRMs, ERPs, ticketing systems, and multiple messaging channels, which means data models and traffic patterns change constantly. Cognigy addressed that by designing more than 30 microservices orchestrated with Kubernetes and backed by MongoDB replica sets across three availability zones. Indexing and caching improve query performance, while MongoDB’s JSON document model aligns with the TypeScript-heavy application stack and reduces migration friction when schemas evolve. Cognigy also uses MongoDB GridFS to store custom-trained intent models with better consistency and availability than a plain file system. This architecture gives the company a composable, low-code foundation for scaling voice and chat experiences without sacrificing latency or deployment flexibility.

Data flow

Data from CRMs, ERPs, ticketing systems, and messaging channels flows into Cognigy microservices, is stored in MongoDB, and is retrieved by low-code voice and chat agents while GridFS holds trained intent-model artifacts.

Solution architecture

  1. Storage
    • MongoDB Stores conversational AI data for Cognigy’s microservices platform and provides the scalable document model behind the product.
    • MongoDB GridFS Stores custom-trained intent models with higher consistency and availability than a plain file system.

Architecture clues

  • Around 80% of the platform is coded in TypeScript and uses a JSON-aligned document model.
  • GridFS stores large binary files such as custom-trained intent models.
  • MongoDB replica sets are distributed across three availability zones.
  • The platform uses sophisticated indexing and caching strategies for query performance.

How scores are calculated

Customer Reference Value measures usefulness as a customer reference. Evidence Confidence measures the quality and traceability of available evidence, not independent verification.

Customer reference value86/100
  • Problem clarity20/20
Measures whether the customer's operational problem is specific enough to compare.
  • Implementation depth25/25
Rewards named components, data flow, integrations, and architecture detail.
  • Outcome specificity16/20
Measures whether the reported benefit is concrete rather than a generic claim.
  • Quantified impact15/25
    1 metric describe measurable impact.
  • Deployment scale10/10
Rewards evidence of a live or scaled deployment and meaningful integration scope.
Evidence confidence82%
  • Source authority20/25
The main evidence is an official vendor-published customer story.
  • Claim traceability23/25
11 of 12 key fields link to a named source.
