Intellect Design Arena

Enterprise Knowledge Search · Security and Compliance

Intellect Design Arena needed a governed retrieval architecture that could turn fragmented ESG data into trustworthy enterprise AI answers for highly regulated financial institutions.

An initial vector-only search achieved an accuracy rate of 71%.
P95 latency was reduced by approximately half, and the solution was taken from implementation to production in approximately six to eight weeks.
With hybrid search and Reciprocal Rank Fusion (RRF), accuracy increased by 17%.
“Before we brought this platform together, they were able to do it only for a fraction; 2% of the companies they have invested in, on a very selective basis.”

Reported impact

Business outcome

The Purple Fabric architecture improved ESG answer accuracy, cut P95 latency roughly in half, and moved from implementation to production in six to eight weeks while maintaining governance for ambiguous queries.

Solution

Intellect Design Arena built its Purple Fabric enterprise AI platform around MongoDB Atlas to operationalize governed AI for regulated finance use cases such as ESG analysis for a sovereign wealth fund. Source material arrives as PDFs, images, and public web documents rather than neat tabular datasets, so the platform had to preserve lineage and relevance while scaling beyond selective manual reviews. Purple Fabric separates data gathering from application and reasoning layers, then uses MongoDB Atlas as the always-available data foundation for a unified retrieval pipeline. Metadata filters are applied early to narrow large corpora before hybrid retrieval combines vector search, lexical search, and Reciprocal Rank Fusion reranking. The architecture evaluates retrieval, relevance, and answer quality as distinct stages, and routes the hardest remaining cases into human-in-the-loop review. This lets Intellect improve answer precision and governance without relying on model improvements alone.

Data flow

PDFs, images, and public web documents are ingested into Purple Fabric and stored on MongoDB Atlas; metadata filters narrow the corpus, hybrid lexical and vector retrieval with RRF ranks evidence, and low-confidence cases are escalated to human reviewers before answers are exposed to end users.

Solution architecture

2 components · 2 layers
  1. Storage
    • MongoDB Atlas Acts as the stable data foundation for hybrid retrieval over ESG and enterprise knowledge sources.
  2. Orchestration
    • Purple Fabric Provides the governed enterprise AI platform that orchestrates retrieval, reasoning, and oversight for regulated-finance workloads.

Architecture clues

  • Governance is enforced inside the retrieval pipeline before anything reaches the LLM.
  • Human-in-the-loop review handles the remaining ambiguous queries.
  • Hybrid retrieval combines metadata filtering, vector search, lexical search, and RRF reranking.
  • The architecture separates data gathering from application and reasoning layers.

Evidence from the source

P95 latency was also reduced by approximately half.
With hybrid search and Reciprocal Rank Fusion (RRF), accuracy increased by 17%.
“For anyone who wants to productionize AI, focus more on architecture, focus more on engineering. Models will continue to get better, but that will not help you to move to production.”
“Governance cannot be an afterthought. You have to enforce it in the pipeline so that it’s taken care of before you expose anything to the LLM.”

How scores are calculated

Customer Reference Value measures usefulness as a customer reference. Evidence Confidence measures the quality and traceability of available evidence, not independent verification.

Customer reference value100/100
  • Problem clarity20/20
Measures whether the customer's operational problem is specific enough to compare.
  • Implementation depth25/25
Rewards named components, data flow, integrations, and architecture detail.
  • Outcome specificity20/20
Measures whether the reported benefit is concrete rather than a generic claim.
  • Quantified impact25/25
    4 metrics describe measurable impact.
  • Deployment scale10/10
Rewards evidence of a live or scaled deployment and meaningful integration scope.
Evidence confidence89%
  • Source authority20/25
The main evidence is an official vendor-published customer story.
  • Claim traceability21/25
10 of 12 key fields link to a named source.
  • Direct evidence20/20
    4 direct source quotes retained.
  • Date provenance10/10
The publication date comes from the source page or publisher.
  • Source transparency8/10
1 source reference document publisher, URL, authority, retrieval, and supported fields.
  • Implementation specificity10/10
Rewards source-backed components, data flow, quantified impact, and a specific outcome.
