Squary AI

Document Processing · Enterprise Knowledge Search

Squary AI needed to eliminate slow, outage-prone legal search infrastructure that combined MongoDB with OpenSearch and hurt document review speed, cost, and trust.

At Quatrini Law Group, Squary AI analyzed more than 460,000 pages and saved over 400 attorney and paralegal hours.
Squary AI now handles 10 times the data for less cost, with single-digit query times, zero outages, and up to 70% faster document review.
“For OpenSearch, we were experiencing up to 15 seconds of query lag.”
“The migration was surprisingly fast; we adapted our code in a matter of days.”

Solution

Squary AI consolidated its legal-workflow platform onto MongoDB Atlas by moving text search and vector search off a separate OpenSearch deployment and into MongoDB Search and MongoDB Vector Search on Atlas. The platform stores case documents in Atlas, indexes existing collections directly without schema rewrites, and used a short dual-write period to validate the migration before cutover. MongoDB Search provides full-text relevance while MongoDB Vector Search supplies embedding-based retrieval for hybrid search. Those retrieval layers feed retrieval-augmented generation workflows that use Claude or Amazon Bedrock depending on client sensitivity. The platform also attaches citations to every generated claim so attorneys can verify outputs against page-level evidence inside very large document sets. By unifying JSON data, search, vectors, and observability on one platform, Squary AI replaced a fragile multi-system stack with a simpler architecture that scales proactively and keeps legal teams working.

Data flow

Legal documents live in MongoDB Atlas, where MongoDB Search and MongoDB Vector Search on Atlas index the same collections for hybrid retrieval; relevant passages are sent to Claude or Amazon Bedrock-backed generation, and the application returns source-linked answers with page-level citations attorneys can verify.

Solution architecture

5 components · 3 layers
  1. Compute
    • Claude Generates legal outputs from retrieved evidence for clients whose data can use that model path.
    • Amazon Bedrock Provides an alternate LLM execution path for client data that requires that deployment model.
  2. Storage
    • MongoDB Atlas Stores Squary AI's legal data and now unifies the operational database, text search, and vector search on one platform.
  3. Serving
    • MongoDB Search Provides full-text similarity search across legal document collections for hybrid retrieval.
    • MongoDB Vector Search on Atlas Retrieves semantically similar passages and supports citation-backed RAG over large legal document sets.

Architecture clues

  • A dual-write period was used to validate results before full migration.
  • Generated claims are returned with page-level citations to reduce hallucinations.
  • MongoDB Compass simplified direct inspection of raw data.
  • The migration indexed existing MongoDB collections directly without schema rewrites.

Evidence from the source

“Search latency improved just as dramatically. Where OpenSearch query times had stretched up to 15 seconds, MongoDB now returns search and generation results consistently under 10 seconds.”
“Squary AI can attach a citation to every claim in a generated report.”
“The migration was surprisingly fast; we adapted our code in a matter of days.”
“With MongoDB, we now handle 10 times our previous data volume for less money.”

Scoring methodology

How scores are calculated

Customer Reference Value measures usefulness as a customer reference. Evidence Confidence measures the quality and traceability of available evidence, not independent verification.

Customer reference value100/100
  • Problem clarity20/20
Measures whether the customer's operational problem is specific enough to compare.
  • Implementation depth25/25
Rewards named components, data flow, integrations, and architecture detail.
  • Outcome specificity20/20
Measures whether the reported benefit is concrete rather than a generic claim.
  • Quantified impact25/25
    3 metrics describe measurable impact.
  • Deployment scale10/10
Rewards evidence of a live or scaled deployment and meaningful integration scope.
Evidence confidence92%
  • Source authority20/25
The main evidence is an official vendor-published customer story.
  • Claim traceability23/25
11 of 12 key fields link to a named source.
  • Direct evidence20/20
    4 direct source quotes retained.
  • Date provenance10/10
The publication date comes from the source page or publisher.
  • Source transparency9/10
2 source references document publisher, URL, authority, retrieval, and supported fields.
  • Implementation specificity10/10
Rewards source-backed components, data flow, quantified impact, and a specific outcome.
