Solution

Workr built an edge AI robotics stack on NVIDIA technology so factory operators can retask industrial robots in under five minutes. The workflow starts with NVIDIA Omniverse Isaac Sim, which Workr uses to create a digital twin of each robot cell and generate targeted synthetic training data instead of collecting huge real-world datasets. In deployment, the full stack runs locally on two NVIDIA RTX PRO 6000 Blackwell Max-Q GPUs attached to a robot cell, where customized RAFT-Stereo and Detectron2 models handle depth and segmentation, NVIDIA Isaac FoundationPose estimates 6-DOF part pose, and NVIDIA Isaac cuMotion generates CUDA-accelerated collision-free motion plans. Operators interact through a tablet and can refine missed parts with Segment Anything 2, feeding corrections back into the model within minutes. This architecture removes cloud dependencies, preserves privacy, and turns robot configuration into an on-site workflow rather than a long engineering project.

Data flow

Operators scan a part and define infeed and outfeed zones, synthetic-data models built in Isaac Sim are loaded onto edge RTX systems, perception models infer depth, segmentation, and pose locally, cuMotion plans the robot path, and tablet-based corrections are fed back into the model for rapid on-site refinement.

Solution architecture

  1. Compute
    • NVIDIA RTX PRO 6000 Blackwell Max-Q Provides the edge GPU compute that runs the entire training and inference stack directly at the robot cell.
    • RAFT-Stereo Generates low-noise depth maps from RGB+D imagery for robot perception.
    • Detectron2 Performs industrial-part segmentation that can be quickly customized with synthetic data.
    • NVIDIA Isaac FoundationPose Provides robust 6-DOF pose estimation for parts in the bin-picking workflow.
    • NVIDIA Isaac cuMotion Computes collision-free robot motion plans using CUDA-accelerated planning.
  2. Serving
    • Segment Anything 2 Lets operators correct missed parts through the tablet interface during cell commissioning.
  3. Orchestration
    • NVIDIA Omniverse Isaac Sim Creates digital twins and synthetic training data for each robot cell before deployment.

Architecture clues

  • A human-in-the-loop tablet workflow adds missed parts back into the training set during commissioning.
  • Synthetic training data is generated from a digital twin of each robot cell rather than from massive real-world collections.
  • The entire stack runs on the edge to eliminate networking requirements and data-privacy concerns.
