Altera.AL

Altera needed a way to keep autonomous AI agents coherent over long interactions because data quality degraded as agents consumed their own outputs over time, limiting how long they could act independently.

Reported impact

Business outcome

Altera improved agent stability, extended autonomous runtime, and created a foundation for digital humans that can collaborate longer and handle more complex tasks than earlier agent systems.

Solution

Altera uses GPT-4o and other OpenAI models inside a parallel multi-module architecture inspired by brain functions to build longer-lived digital humans. Its first product is a set of autonomous agents that can play Minecraft with people like a friend, but the harder engineering challenge was preventing data degradation in long-running agent loops. To solve that, Altera combined OpenAI models with modules for functions such as attention bottlenecks, working memory, and social cognition so the system could preserve better decision quality over extended sessions. User interactions flow into those GPT-backed modules, are processed in parallel, and are then recombined into agent actions and dialogue that stay stable for far longer than prior approaches. The same architecture is intended to support future digital coworkers and multi-agent simulations, making OpenAI the reasoning substrate for more durable emotional and cognitive behaviors.

Data flow

Human or virtual-world inputs enter Altera's parallel module system, GPT-4o processes cognition and interaction tasks across those modules, and the combined outputs drive longer-running agent behavior back into the game or collaboration environment.

How scores are calculated

Customer Reference Value measures usefulness as a customer reference. Evidence Confidence measures the quality and traceability of available evidence, not independent verification.

Customer reference value70/100
  • Problem clarity20/20
Measures whether the customer's operational problem is specific enough to compare.
  • Implementation depth25/25
Rewards named components, data flow, integrations, and architecture detail.
  • Outcome specificity20/20
Measures whether the reported benefit is concrete rather than a generic claim.
  • Quantified impact0/25
    0 metrics describe measurable impact.
  • Deployment scale5/10
Rewards evidence of a live or scaled deployment and meaningful integration scope.
Evidence confidence90%
  • Source authority20/25
The main evidence is an official vendor-published customer story.
  • Claim traceability23/25
11 of 12 key fields link to a named source.
  • Direct evidence20/20
    4 direct source quotes retained.
  • Date provenance10/10
The publication date comes from the source page or publisher.
  • Source transparency9/10
3 source references document publisher, URL, authority, retrieval, and supported fields.
