Guangdong Power Grid

Customer Service Automation · Enterprise Knowledge Search

Guangdong Power Grid needed to modernize customer-service operations with better intent understanding and a self-improving knowledge base because legacy customer-center knowledge was outdated, hard to search, and unable to support agents handling complex power-service questions efficiently.

Reported impact

Business outcome

Guangdong Power Grid improved how its service channels understand customer needs, created a self-improving utility knowledge base, and laid a foundation for broader intelligent customer service and power-industry consultation.

Solution

Guangdong Power Grid worked with Baidu AI Cloud to build an intelligent dialogue and knowledge-service stack centered on a private-deployment natural-language-processing solution. The system uses intent recognition, entity recognition, multi-turn dialogue, semantic understanding, and knowledge-graph methods to interpret customer requests and extract the key information needed for service responses. On top of that dialogue layer, the project created a domain-specific intelligent knowledge base for the utility's customer center. Machine-learning models identify reusable enterprise language assets and continuously mine historical interactions between users and service robots so the knowledge base can evolve instead of remaining static.

Data flow

Customer questions enter the dialogue system, where NLP models identify intent, entities, and semantic meaning. The system retrieves guidance from the power-service knowledge base, returns the answer to the customer, and feeds historical robot conversations back into machine-learning workflows so the knowledge base can keep improving.

Solution architecture

4 components · 3 layers
  1. Compute
    • Private Deployment Natural Language Processing Solution Provides the utility's core language-understanding stack for customer-service dialogue.
    • Intent Recognition Identifies the purpose of customer questions so the service can route and answer them accurately.
  2. Storage
    • Knowledge Graph Supports the evolving customer-service knowledge base and improves answer grounding.
  3. Serving
    • Multi-turn Dialogue Manages service conversations across multiple exchanges in the intelligent dialogue system.

Architecture clues

  • Historical conversations with the service robot are mined continuously so the knowledge base can self-improve
  • The deployment combines intent recognition, entity recognition, semantic understanding, and multi-turn dialogue in one customer-service stack
  • The utility created a domain-specific intelligent knowledge base for its customer center

Scoring methodology

How scores are calculated

Customer Reference Value measures usefulness as a customer reference. Evidence Confidence measures the quality and traceability of available evidence, not independent verification.

Customer reference value75/100
  • Problem clarity20/20
Measures whether the customer's operational problem is specific enough to compare.
  • Implementation depth25/25
Rewards named components, data flow, integrations, and architecture detail.
  • Outcome specificity20/20
Measures whether the reported benefit is concrete rather than a generic claim.
  • Quantified impact0/25
    0 metrics describe measurable impact.
  • Deployment scale10/10
Rewards evidence of a live or scaled deployment and meaningful integration scope.
Evidence confidence87%
  • Source authority20/25
The main evidence is an official vendor-published customer story.
  • Claim traceability21/25
10 of 12 key fields link to a named source.
  • Direct evidence20/20
    4 direct source quotes retained.
  • Date provenance10/10
The publication date comes from the source page or publisher.
  • Source transparency8/10
1 source reference document publisher, URL, authority, retrieval, and supported fields.
  • Implementation specificity8/10
Rewards source-backed components, data flow, quantified impact, and a specific outcome.
