Enterprise Knowledge Search

GigaSpaces needed a faster way to let enterprise users query complex structured data with generative AI because conventional approaches to databases and metadata were too unintuitive and inaccurate for natural-language access.

Solution

GigaSpaces used IBM watsonx.ai and IBM watsonx Assistant to build an enterprise retrieval-augmented generation platform aimed at structured enterprise data. The architecture places watsonx Assistant at the front end as the conversational interface and uses watsonx.ai to power the query, reasoning, and summarization flow behind it. GigaSpaces layered semantic enrichment and vector caching on top of its Digital Integration Hub approach so metadata reasoning and retrieval could work across operational datasets such as sales records, inventory, order payments, and marketing analytics. This allowed the R&D team to prototype the experience in days rather than months and to focus on improving the core eRAG logic. The resulting design turns complicated structured datasets into a natural-language service layer that can surface business insight more accurately than generic AI-to-database methods, while leaving room for future governance controls as the platform matures.

Data flow

Structured enterprise data and metadata are enriched inside the eRAG platform, watsonx.ai reasons over the retrieved context using semantic enrichment and vector caching, and watsonx Assistant returns the answer through a conversational interface.

How scores are calculated

Customer Reference Value measures usefulness as a customer reference. Evidence Confidence measures the quality and traceability of available evidence, not independent verification.

Customer reference value85/100
  • Problem clarity20/20
Measures whether the customer's operational problem is specific enough to compare.
  • Implementation depth20/25
Rewards named components, data flow, integrations, and architecture detail.
  • Outcome specificity20/20
Measures whether the reported benefit is concrete rather than a generic claim.
  • Quantified impact25/25
    2 metrics describe measurable impact.
  • Deployment scale0/10
Rewards evidence of a live or scaled deployment and meaningful integration scope.
