Solution

Poste Italiane implemented its AI program on top of an internal, next-generation distributed data architecture described as a data mesh. The company says this decentralized foundation makes domain data available directly to business units in real time, with the accessibility, context, and quality needed to train and use AI models effectively. That data layer is paired with large-scale Cloud and Edge Computing infrastructure distributed across Italy and tied to the Group's omnichannel service platform. On top of this foundation, Poste Italiane deployed an evolved digital assistant that uses generative AI to provide employees with faster real-time answers during customer interactions, an AI-supported telephone booking service that enables natural voice conversations for appointment scheduling, and generative AI algorithms integrated into the new Poste Italiane single app to hyper-personalize customer experiences.

Data flow

Operational data is managed by domain in Poste Italiane's distributed data mesh and exposed in real time to business units. That contextualized, high-quality data supports AI model training and use on the Group's cloud and edge infrastructure, after which generative AI services are delivered to employees through the digital assistant, to customers through the phone booking service, and to app users through the single app.

How scores are calculated

Customer Reference Value measures usefulness as a customer reference. Evidence Confidence measures the quality and traceability of available evidence, not independent verification.

Customer reference value75/100
  • Problem clarity20/20
Measures whether the customer's operational problem is specific enough to compare.
  • Implementation depth25/25
Rewards named components, data flow, integrations, and architecture detail.
  • Outcome specificity20/20
Measures whether the reported benefit is concrete rather than a generic claim.
  • Quantified impact0/25
    0 metrics describe measurable impact.
  • Deployment scale10/10
Rewards evidence of a live or scaled deployment and meaningful integration scope.
