Solution
AdventHealth approached AI rollout as an adoption problem rather than a pilot problem, using ChatGPT Enterprise and later ChatGPT for Healthcare to redesign workflows across a large health system. Early work focused on utilization management, where physician advisors spend significant time reviewing charts, checking criteria, and drafting rationales; with ChatGPT for Healthcare, the system can generate structured summaries, highlight relevant details, and draft first-pass rationales while clinicians retain final responsibility. The organization measures these improvements with timestamps in electronic health records and other process-native throughput data instead of relying on anecdotal feedback. Similar patterns now apply beyond clinical roles: drafting documents, converting policies into structured formats, summarizing notes, and accelerating internal workflows across finance, HR, and IT. Governance, privacy, and peer-based adoption groups remain central so AI becomes a trusted source of “time back” that can be reinvested into patient care and higher-value work.
Data flow
Clinical charts, internal documents, policies, and notes flow into ChatGPT workspaces to generate structured summaries, rationales, and first drafts. System-level timestamps and throughput data are then used to measure the impact and verify whether reclaimed time is translating into operational capacity.
