Solution
Allianz built AllianzGPT as an internal generative AI platform for employee workflows and launched it globally in September 2023. The application serves as the user-facing layer for chat, document analysis, translation, summarization, comparisons, and communication support. It ingests prompts together with internal Allianz content and company documents, including content stored in folder and subfolder structures, then routes requests to ring-fenced model instances rather than public services. The initial release used OpenAI's GPT-3.5, and the platform later added OpenAI GPT-4o for chat, DALL-E for image creation, and DeepSeek for additional experimentation. Allianz states that all data shared with these models remains inside the Allianz Azure Cloud provided by Microsoft, which supplies the protected hosting environment for confidential processing. The platform is delivered in Standard and Premium tiers, with Premium instances tailored to functions such as audit, risk consulting, and actuarial work.
Data flow
Employees submit prompts and internal documents or knowledge through AllianzGPT, which combines that internal content with ring-fenced model access to GPT-3.5, GPT-4o, DALL-E, or DeepSeek inside the Allianz Azure Cloud. The system analyzes company content, generates responses or document outputs, and returns answers with references such as document sources and page numbers for user verification.
