Solution

Snyk uses Snowflake, Cortex AI, Cortex Search, and Slack to turn scattered technical documents and security knowledge into an internal natural-language support and insight system. Daily ingestion processes collect unstructured content such as Slack threads, internal documentation, blogs, articles, and Snyk Learn lessons into Snowflake, which serves as the central governed store for reporting and AI retrieval. Cortex Search retrieves the right passages and Cortex AI interprets user questions so employees can ask for product, sales, and customer-support guidance through a Slack chatbot instead of searching across multiple repositories. By keeping vector search, retrieval, and enterprise data inside Snowflake, Snyk simplified security boundaries, accelerated rollout, and created a reusable knowledge platform that answers thousands of questions each month.

Data flow

Slack threads, documentation, blogs, articles, and Snyk Learn content are ingested into Snowflake each day. Cortex Search retrieves relevant context, Cortex AI interprets the question, and the resulting answer is returned to employees through a Slack chatbot.

Solution architecture

4 components · 3 layers
  1. Compute
    • Cortex AI Interprets natural-language questions and generates grounded answers for internal users.
    • Cortex Search Retrieves relevant passages from the Snowflake-resident knowledge base for chatbot responses.
  2. Storage
    • Snowflake Stores Snyk’s governed internal datasets and unstructured corpora in one central environment.
  3. Serving
    • Slack Provides the user-facing chatbot interface for product, sales, and support questions.

Architecture clues

  • A daily ingestion application sweeps unstructured content into Snowflake.
  • Snyk originally planned to build the capability in-house before choosing Cortex AI and Cortex Search.
  • The solution keeps search and vector-style retrieval inside Snowflake for easier security management.

Scoring methodology

How scores are calculated

Customer Reference Value measures usefulness as a customer reference. Evidence Confidence measures the quality and traceability of available evidence, not independent verification.

Customer reference value90/100
  • Problem clarity20/20
Measures whether the customer's operational problem is specific enough to compare.
  • Implementation depth25/25
Rewards named components, data flow, integrations, and architecture detail.
  • Outcome specificity20/20
Measures whether the reported benefit is concrete rather than a generic claim.
  • Quantified impact15/25
    1 metric describe measurable impact.
  • Deployment scale10/10
Rewards evidence of a live or scaled deployment and meaningful integration scope.
Evidence confidence79%
  • Source authority20/25
The main evidence is an official vendor-published customer story.
  • Claim traceability21/25
10 of 12 key fields link to a named source.
  • Direct evidence20/20
    4 direct source quotes retained.
  • Date provenance0/10
The publication date has no documented provenance.
  • Source transparency8/10
1 source reference document publisher, URL, authority, retrieval, and supported fields.
  • Implementation specificity10/10
Rewards source-backed components, data flow, quantified impact, and a specific outcome.
