Solution

MUFG is using OpenAI as the foundation for an AI-native banking model that starts with secure internal adoption and extends toward customer-facing financial guidance. The first layer is a phased ChatGPT Enterprise rollout across Mitsubishi UFJ Bank so roughly 35,000 employees can use AI in daily work under mandatory training, security controls, and clear usage rules. OpenAI supported operational planning, workshops, executive education, custom GPT materials, and banking-specific examples, while MUFG created department-level AI champions and more than 1,800 custom GPTs, including “AI bankers” tailored to local workflows. Beyond internal productivity, MUFG is preparing customer experiences around Apps in ChatGPT and its digital-bank ecosystem, including Moneytree, an AI concierge, and the MAP advisory platform so users can ask natural-language questions about balances, transactions, and personalized financial recommendations.

Data flow

Employee tasks and internal banking workflows flow into ChatGPT Enterprise and department-specific AI bankers under governance controls and mandatory training. Customer financial data is then intended to surface through Moneytree and MAP so conversational queries can return balances, transactions, and personalized recommendations inside MUFG’s digital-bank experiences.

How scores are calculated

Customer Reference Value measures usefulness as a customer reference. Evidence Confidence measures the quality and traceability of available evidence, not independent verification.

Customer reference value100/100
  • Problem clarity20/20
Measures whether the customer's operational problem is specific enough to compare.
  • Implementation depth25/25
Rewards named components, data flow, integrations, and architecture detail.
  • Outcome specificity20/20
Measures whether the reported benefit is concrete rather than a generic claim.
  • Quantified impact25/25
    2 metrics describe measurable impact.
  • Deployment scale10/10
Rewards evidence of a live or scaled deployment and meaningful integration scope.
Evidence confidence87%
  • Source authority20/25
The main evidence is an official vendor-published customer story.
  • Claim traceability21/25
10 of 12 key fields link to a named source.
