Thryv

Customer Service Automation · Enterprise Knowledge Search

Thryv's internal staff relied on the helpdesk and intranet for routine company and HR questions, so support teams spent too much time answering repetitive requests, manually maintaining information, and triaging simple issues instead of handling higher-value work.

Reported impact

Business outcome

Thryv reduced routine helpdesk and HR dependency by giving employees a production GenAI self-service channel for company and policy questions, faster troubleshooting, MFA reset support, and ticket initiation, improving response speed, lowering manual support effort, and creating a foundation for broader AI adoption.

Solution

TCS built an internal employee-support chatbot for Thryv with Microsoft Copilot Studio's generative AI and no-code tooling so staff could get HR, company, and basic IT answers without waiting on the helpdesk. The solution reads internal documents and intranet pages, interprets natural-language questions, and returns immediate responses inside Microsoft Teams, where employees already work. Power Platform integration connects the chatbot to internal and third-party systems, while ITSM integration lets it create, manage, and track trouble tickets when a request needs workflow follow-through rather than just an answer. TCS also automated multifactor-authentication resets and added live-agent escalation for complex issues, turning the bot into a production self-service layer that reduces repetitive tickets while keeping human support in the loop.

Data flow

Employees ask natural-language questions in Microsoft Teams, Microsoft Copilot Studio retrieves and interprets relevant intranet pages and internal documents, and the chatbot returns immediate answers. When a request needs action, the flow branches through Power Platform and Thryv's ITSM integration to open or manage tickets, with live-agent escalation for more complex cases.

Solution architecture

3 components · 2 layers
  1. Serving
    • Microsoft Copilot Studio Powers the GenAI chatbot that interprets employee questions and answers them from Thryv's internal content.
    • Microsoft Teams Hosts the chatbot in Thryv's collaboration environment so employees can use it in their normal workflow.
  2. Orchestration
    • Power Platform Connects the chatbot to internal and third-party systems and supports no-code workflow extension.

Architecture clues

  • Live-agent escalation keeps a human handoff path for issues the chatbot should not complete alone.
  • TCS describes this as Thryv's first production-grade deployment of GenAI.
  • The chatbot was embedded in Microsoft Teams instead of being launched as a separate portal.
  • The implementation includes ITSM ticket creation, management, and tracking in addition to question answering.
