Baidu AI Cloud Energy China Translated from Chinese

State Grid Shandong Electric Power

Customer Service Automation · Predictive Maintenance

State Grid Shandong needed to make AI practical across customer service, line safety and internal document work in an enormous utility environment where traditional business processes were slow and heavily manual.

Common electricity-service handling time fell 70%.
Construction-vehicle recognition improved from 80% to 95%.
Foreign-object recognition improved from 60% to 80%.
Smoke recognition improved from 70% to 90%.

Solution

State Grid Shandong used Baidu AI Cloud to build an AI middle platform that could serve both infrastructure operations and customer-facing energy services. In the service hall, the platform supports self-service kiosks and facial-recognition-based identity verification so users can handle common electricity tasks without waiting in line. In grid operations, the same AI foundation powers a transmission-channel visualization platform that recognizes construction vehicles, smoke, fire and foreign objects in complex outdoor scenes, turning camera feeds into safety alerts. In office operations, the utility also added intelligent writing capabilities that extract local热点 information, recommend writing materials and help polish content for internal communications. Technically, the platform combines Baidu's AI models with a packaged training and deployment environment so multiple power-utility scenarios can share the same governance and runtime base. That made AI useful across both the customer journey and the production side of the electric grid.

Data flow

Kiosk sessions, face-recognition checks, camera feeds and office-document requests all flow through the AI middle platform, which serves recognition outputs, safety alerts and writing assistance back into Shandong's customer and operations workflows.

Scoring methodology

How scores are calculated

Customer Reference Value measures usefulness as a customer reference. Evidence Confidence measures the quality and traceability of available evidence, not independent verification.

Customer reference value100/100
  • Problem clarity20/20
Measures whether the customer's operational problem is specific enough to compare.
  • Implementation depth25/25
Rewards named components, data flow, integrations, and architecture detail.
  • Outcome specificity20/20
Measures whether the reported benefit is concrete rather than a generic claim.
  • Quantified impact25/25
    4 metrics describe measurable impact.
  • Deployment scale10/10
Rewards evidence of a live or scaled deployment and meaningful integration scope.
Evidence confidence84%
  • Source authority20/25
The main evidence is an official vendor-published customer story.
  • Claim traceability21/25
10 of 12 key fields link to a named source.
  • Direct evidence15/20
    3 direct source quotes retained.
  • Date provenance10/10
The publication date comes from the source page or publisher.
  • Source transparency8/10
1 source reference document publisher, URL, authority, retrieval, and supported fields.
  • Implementation specificity10/10
Rewards source-backed components, data flow, quantified impact, and a specific outcome.
